Auto Body Technician Apprentice

We are seeking a motivated and hands-on Auto Body Technician Apprentice to join our collision repair team at McCarthy Chevrolet- Lee's Summit. This entry-level role is perfect for someone looking to start a career in auto body repair and learn from highly experienced technicians. The apprentice will assist with daily repair tasks and develop the skills needed to perform high-quality bodywork, refinishing, and vehicle restoration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist body technicians with vehicle disassembly and reassembly.
  • Prepare vehicles for repair by removing parts, cleaning surfaces, and organizing components.
  • Support technicians in repairing dents, panels, bumpers, and structural components.
  • Learn and follow proper sanding, masking, and painting preparation techniques.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Operate tools and equipment under supervision, including sanders, welders, and spray equipment.
  • Document work performed and follow repair procedures as instructed.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and shop protocols.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Interest in automotive repair, restoration, or collision work.
  • Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort using hand tools.
  • Reliable, punctual, and safety-focused.
  • Valid drivers license with a clean driving record.
