Job Summary :

We are seeking a Full-Time OR Surgical Techncian who is an integral member of the surgical team, providing care to patients, aged six months throughout the life span. Care is rendered by providing and controlling the sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment required during surgical intervention. Duties include but not limited to :

• Assembles supplies and equipment for surgical procedures. Opens sterile supplies and prepares for operative procedures.
• Sets up table, instruments and supplies according to the type of surgical procedure.
• Applies principles of asepsis. Demonstrates knowledge of sterilization and disinfection techniques.
• Assists and anticipates the needs of the surgeon during procedure. Works within established scope of practice.
• Works in collaboration with the registered nurse to maximize efficient intra-operative practice, minimize room turnover, and promote prudent use of resources.
• Decontaminates all equipment, instruments, and supplies according to procedures.
• Identifies and responds appropriately to emergency situations.
• Assists with cleaning and maintenance of rooms, equipment, and furniture.
• Assists with inventory of supplies and equipment.
• Seeks guidance, direction and assistance when needed.
