A day in this role
You start your morning from home in Mississippi, Louisiana, or Arkansas and head to a hospital where a critical piece of medical equipment needs attention. You greet the clinical team, diagnose the issue, and return the device to reliable operation. In the afternoon, you review preventive maintenance tasks, document your work using our technology platforms, and coordinate with Technical Support and Engineering to resolve a complex escalation. The next day, you may be on the road to another facility in Texas or Tennessee, building trust with Customers and keeping care teams running smoothly.
What you will do
- Diagnose, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on STERIS and competitor medical equipment, systems, and components inside hospitals.
- Independently manage your schedule to complete PMs, service and warranty calls, installations, field upgrades, and other assigned work.
- Collaborate with Tech Support, Engineering, and Service Contract Management; use advanced digital tools to meet compliance and regulatory documentation requirements.
- Present repair options, pricing, and recommendations; partner with Sales to enhance Customer experience and identify potential revenue opportunities.
- Support multiple hospital locations across the region based on service agreements and Customer needs.
Where and how you work
Home-based, Customer-facing role; work primarily takes place inside hospitals.Must reside in Mississippi, Louisiana, or Arkansas to support the assigned territory.Floating coverage with heavy travel—up to 75%. Expect overnight travel Monday–Friday and some weekends as needed.Regional travel spans Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee.Who thrives here
People with hands-on technical backgrounds succeed in this role, including experience in HVAC repair, mechanics, maintenance, refrigeration, boilers / chillers, equipment repair, diesel / automotive, aviation repair, plumbing, and electrical.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED and 4+ years of work experience, including 2+ years in a mechanical / technical role. An associate degree, related technical certifications, competitive equipment training, or relevant military experience may count toward the technical requirement.Valid driver’s license and ability to meet all background and physical assessment elements required to obtain and maintain existing and new vendor credentialing.Experience engaging with Customers and teams; strong verbal and written communication.Basic computer proficiency (Windows, email, navigation, mobile apps; ability to enter data across multiple systems).Flexibility for overnights and early / late hours based on Customer and business needs.What STERIS offers
