The Controller leads the accounting function and financial close, ensuring accurate, timely reporting and strong internal controls that scale with the business. This role manages the accounting team and partners closely with the CFO.
- Own the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process, including close calendar management, reconciliations, and journal entry governance.
- Prepare, review, and deliver timely financial statements and reporting packages in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
- Oversee general ledger operations and maintain balance sheet integrity through disciplined reconciliations and review controls.
- Lead accounts payable processes, including approvals, vendor management, and payment execution controls.
- Lead billing and accounts receivable processes, including invoicing accuracy, collections cadence, dispute resolution, and AR aging management.
- Drive working capital discipline through cash forecasting inputs, AR collections strategy, and payables cadence in partnership with the CFO.
- Establish, maintain, and enforce accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls; ensure audit-ready documentation and consistent application.
- Coordinate sales and use tax filings and other applicable tax reporting requirements, partnering with external advisors as needed.
- Serve as the primary liaison for external audits and coordinate audit planning, PBC requests, and timely issue resolution.
- Support revenue accounting and recurring revenue model integrity, including deferred revenue and contract-related analyses (ASC 606 familiarity preferred).
- Own accounting systems process integrity and data governance, partnering with IT and Finance on controls, access, and upstream data flows.
- Identify and implement process and automation improvements that reduce close cycle time, improve accuracy, and strengthen controls.
- Lead, coach, and develop the accounting team through clear expectations, hiring, performance management, and cross-training to scale with business needs.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; Master's degree preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years of people management experience.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting standards; ability to create audit-ready support.
- Proven experience leading month-end close and producing accurate financial statements for a mid-market organization.
- Experience managing external audits and partnering with external tax providers for compliance activities.
- Technology company experience preferred; SaaS or recurring revenue model experience strongly preferred.
- Treasury management experience required, including comfort working with foreign currencies.
- NetSuite experience strongly preferred.
- Strong Excel skills required (must be comfortable using pivot table and conditional formulas)
- CPA license preferred; public accounting experience is a plus.
- Strong leadership, communication, analytical, and organizational skills with high attention to detail and follow-through.
