Reports to: Custodial Supervisor

Employment Status: Full-time; 12 month

FLSA Status: Hourly

JOB GOAL: The Custodial Worker is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the school building and following all required procedures when cleaning.

Responsibilities

• Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them.
• Gather and empty all trash.
• Clean and supply restrooms and polish furniture and fixtures.
• Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors, doors, walls using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees.
• Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications.
• Steam-clean or shampoo carpets.
• Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors.
• Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
• Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created.
• Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies, either manually or by using hand trucks.
• Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, for board meetings and events.
• Perform related duties as required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• High degree of professionalism
• Reliable and able to work some weekends.

Physical Demands

• Speak, stand, talk, walk, see, hear and, sometimes, to sit.
• Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to read small print.
• Frequently bend, reach above the head, as well as forward, and use fine motor skills.
