Community Options, Inc. is a national non-profit agency providing services to individuals with disabilities in 12 states.
We are seeking a Director of Nursing in Southeastern Pennsylvania . The Director of Nursing leads a team including RNs and LPNs for an assigned region to care for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This person will support teams with day-to-day operations and challenges to ensure the medical and healthcare needs of the individuals we support are met.
Responsibilities
- Lead and train teams to support programmatic initiatives, goals, and the unique needs of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
- Manage team performance through effective communication, training, performance management, staff meetings, employee recognition, and internal control reviews
- Provide treatment and health care procedures ordered by a physician and required by the standards of professional practice or law
- Train staff on the healthcare needs, medical conditions, and plan of care for assigned individuals
- Develop and conduct comprehensive training programs
- Develop and update nursing care plans and health care plans with an interdisciplinary team to include any concerns, observations, and behavioral developments
- Ensure nursing protocols comply with state and board of nursing regulations and guidelines
- Advise supervisor of all concerns and issues related to the provision of nursing services
- Ensure nurse assessments and program documentation are completed accurately and timely
- Monitor health and medical conditions of individuals and refer for medical services as needed
- Assess systemic risk management issues with the administration of medications
- Review all medication errors, analyze each error, and report per state regulations
- Build a support network for individuals by developing and maintaining relationships with community members, businesses, and families
- Follow strict infection control procedures regarding blood borne pathogens
- Available after hours by phone for on call emergency telephone triage
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree in nursing or related fieldValid RN license allowing you to practice in assigned stateValid driver's license with a satisfactory driving recordMinimum two years of experience as a registered nurseComplete all state and agency required trainingRemain abreast of all board of nursing regulations and industry standardsExperience supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilitiesKnowledge of state regulatory agency operations and standards relevant to supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilitiesTeam-oriented with demonstrated leadership experienceProficient with Microsoft OfficeExperience working with electronic health record systems; Therap preferredEmployment is contingent upon successful completion of checks of criminal background, central registry, child abuse registry, and drug testingWhy Community Options?
