Afterschool Program Assistant (Ages 612)Hours : MondayFriday, 2 : 30 PM6 : 00 PM Weekly Hours : Approximately 17.5 hours per week Pay : $14$16 / hour Location : Early Spark AcademyJob SummaryWe are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Afterschool Program Assistant to support our school-age program for children ages 612. This role involves supervising children in a safe, engaging environment, preparing snacks, facilitating activities, and promoting positive behavior.The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children and an understanding of childhood development, classroom management, and behavior management techniques. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students lives while supporting their social, emotional, and academic growth in a warm, Reggio-inspired community.Experience in early childhood education, childcare, tutoring, or related fields is preferred.ResponsibilitiesWalk (12 minutes) to a nearby school to safely pick up children at dismissalSupervise and engage up to 14 children during after-school hours, ensuring safety and well-beingPrepare and serve a daily after-school snackImplement structured activities, including arts and crafts, outdoor play, STEM, and educational gamesSupport behavior management strategies and promote positive interactions and conflict resolutionAssist with homework help, tutoring, and reinforcing individual learning goalsMaintain a clean and organized activity area and ensure all safety protocols are followedComplete light end-of-day cleanup (emptying small trash bins, ensuring restrooms are tidy, and vacuuming activity areas as needed, etc.)Provide first aid when necessary and respond appropriately to emergenciesCollaborate with teachers, parents, and colleagues to support studentsFoster an inclusive environment that respects diverse backgrounds and abilitiesCommunicate any concerns promptly and professionally with the DirectorPerform other duties as assigned to support program needsQualificationsPrior experience working with children (childcare, camp, tutoring, babysitting, youth programs, etc.) is preferredKnowledge of childhood development principles and behavior management techniquesStrong classroom management skills and the ability to engage school-age children effectivelyExcellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with staff and familiesCPR / First Aid certification is a plus (or willingness to obtain)Passion for supporting childrens growth in a safe, nurturing, and creative environmentMust be at least 18 years old Perks & BenefitsWe value our team and strive to make this role rewarding and enjoyable!Professional Development Opportunities Training in child development, behavior strategies, activity planning, and moreOpportunities for Extra Hours Additional hours may be available during school breaks, early dismissals, or special eventsDiscounted Tuition for Your Own Children (if applicable)Creative Freedom in Activity Planning Bring your ideas!
