Animal Control and Code Compliance Officer

WORK OBJECTIVE

Performs administrative, investigative, and field work of moderate difficulty related to enforcing the City’s Code of Ordinances, with a focus on animal services and code compliance. This position responds to complaints, conducts inspections, investigates noise complaints violations, and provides education to the public on animal care, local codes, and ordinance compliance. Work is performed under limited supervision with moderate latitude for independent judgement.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or GED.
• Two (2) years of professional experience in animal handling, behavior, or law / ordinance enforcement.
• Employee must obtain Florida Association of Code Enforcement (F.A.C.E.) certifications Levels 1 through 4, at the rate of one (1) certification per year during employment.
• Valid Florida Class E driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record throughout employment. Animal Control Officer certification from the Florida Animal Control Association (or obtain within one year of employment).
• Ability to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Obtain the National Animal Care Officer certification within one (1) year of hire.
• Or a combination of education, certification, training, and / or experience.
