This role is designed to support the Museum’s mission by facilitating informal education experiences and supporting the strategic objectives of the Education and Engagement team with a specific focus on school programming.
The person in this position will be expected to work 20-25 hours per week and will report to the Program Manager of School and Community Engagement.
General E&E Responsibilities
- Development, prototyping, and delivery of experiences and programs for visitors, including : informal, on-the-floor programs for visitors, off-site programs, and special programs as they arise
- Work on cross-departmental teams as needed
- Support general Museum activities
- Weekend and some evening work required
- Other job-related duties as needed

Required :
Passion for informal education, particularly related to science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), computational thinking, and / or design thinkingWillingness to work with and handle vertebrate and invertebrate animalsAbility to engage with children and adults in a friendly,outgoingand professional mannerAbility to work independently and within a teamStrong organizational skillsCreativity, dependability,flexibilityand enthusiasmMust be able to be on their feet for up to 6 hours at a time, walk distances of up to one mile over varying terrains, be able to lift 25 pounds(reasonable accommodations can be made)Desired :
Valid driver’s licenseExperience managing a classroom or audience ofchild, youngadult, or adult learners.Experience developing and implementing inquiry-based, materials-rich curriculum to children,familiesand / or adultsExperience working in a museum or other informal educational settingDegree in science or engineering discipline, education, design, or related fieldFluency in language other than EnglishExperience using technology to augment and enhance curriculum and program delivery
