Program Director
Weiss Asset Management Foundation is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Program Director to manage its global grantmaking program. This position is based in Boston.
The mission of Weiss Asset Management Foundation is to reduce human suffering globally. We seek to improve lives through strategic funding and believe that a rigorous grant selection approach facilitates an outsized impact from our philanthropic resources. With an Allocation Committee composed of leading development economists and practitioners, the Foundation supports evidence-based, cost-effective, and scalable programs and research that we believe can deliver high, risk-adjusted social returns.
Our grant portfolio has positively impacted millions of lives. We have supported programming and research across multiple sectors, including evidence-based nutrition programming for children suffering from severe acute malnutrition, policy-oriented research of water purification efforts reaching hundreds of millions of people, and catalytic initiatives to improve the livelihoods of farmers in low- and middle-income countries.
Weiss Asset Management Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Weiss Asset Management.
As Program Director, you will oversee a cost-effectiveness-driven Request for Proposals, work directly with leading development economists and practitioners on the Allocation Committee, and manage a large and expanding portfolio of high-impact grants. The role combines analytical judgment and operational excellence across the grantmaking cycle. You will report to the Managing Director and work with the growing Foundation team.
The position is best suited for an experienced program professional (5+ years of experience). The ideal candidate can manage complex, multi-stakeholder processes, navigate trade-offs under uncertainty, and translate strategic priorities into actionable grant decisions. We are particularly interested in candidates with exposure to development economics and evidence-based grantmaking, as well as meaningful experience working or interning in low- and middle-income countries.
