POSITION : BUILDING SUBSTITUTE TEACHERREPORTS TO : BUILDING PRINCIPALAs a teacher in the Worcester Public Schools you will be expected to provide rigorous instruction to the diverse population of students in your classroom. You will be expected to align your teaching to the district and state curriculum; to regularly assess students for learning comprehension and to modify your teaching to ensure that students are learning; to provide a classroom that is conducive to the learning needs of all students especially students who are learning English and students with disabilities. ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE : This position is accountable for assuming the responsibility for delivering high quality instructional experience through creativity resourcefulness and sound judgment consistent with the curriculum frameworks standards and the rules and regulations of the Worcester Public Schools. Building substitutes support the work of the building and will be given daily assignments by the building principal. The assignments will vary and can include assignments to cover any classroom or grade level at the school. The assignments can also include duties (lunch recess hall dismissal etc.) and / or covering for instructional assistants. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES : (to be included along with other responsibilities)1. Commit to remaining in the position for the complete school year2. Commit to reporting to work on time and for complete work days3. Commit to learning the rules and procedures of the district and the school; and following and enforcing them4. Work at the direction of the building principal and accept a variety of assignments5. Interact with students colleagues and families in a professional and respectful manner6. Supervise students. Enforce the schools rules including safety rules7. Prepare for assignments by reviewing curriculum and lesson plans8. Be communicative with supervisors and colleagues about work-related issues9. Be able to work successfully in a fast-paced environment10. Performance of other job-related duties as assigned. Successful applicants will be expected to be on duty and ready for work 10 minutes prior to the start of the school day and remain 30 minutes after the end of the day. Ability to meet the districts attendance requirements3. Experience working with school aged students4. Ability and willingness to successfully complete a variety of school-based assignments5. Ability and willingness to learn and enforce school and district expectations for student and staff behavior6. Excellent communication skills7. Commitment to adhering to a work environment that values and supports all students and familiesPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS : 1. Demonstrated experience supporting students with special needs 2. Ability to speak Albanian Arabic Nepali Portuguese Spanish Vietnamese or an African Language 3.
