Description : About the Role :
We are seeking a hands-on Accounting Manager to manage and execute day-to-day operations in a growing organization. This is a working manager role, not a purely supervisory or strategic position.
The Accounting Manager will personally perform core accounting tasks while also supervising a small accounting team and improving processes. This position reports directly to ownership and plays a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, stable operations, and financial transparency.

SUMMARY :
The Accounting Manager supports the Owner / VP by overseeing our day-to-day accounting operations and ensures the accuracy of our financial records. This role will supervise the Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) Clerks, manage the month-end close process, maintain the chart of accounts, and support strategic initiatives such as our transition into Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. The position requires exceptional organizational skills, with strong technical accounting expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to provide financial insights to ownership.

Key Responsibilities :
Prepare journal entries and maintain general ledger accuracy.Complete bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations.Process monthly sales tax filings.Manage and execute month-end and year-end close.Prepare accurate and timely financial reports for ownership.Maintain and optimize the chart of accounts across departments and locations.Track fixed assets and depreciation schedules.Prepare cash flow reports and short-term cash projects.Assist with budgets and forecasts.Maintain inventory item setup and cost accuracy.Ensure proper inventory valuation.Supervise, train, and support AR and AP Clerks.Personally perform, as needed, and review accounts receivable invoicing, cash application, and oversee collections.Personally perform, as needed, accounts payable processing, coding, and payment preparation.Review work for accuracy and timeliness.Provide coverage during staffing gaps.Improve accounting processes and internal controls.Document standard operating procedures (SOPS); create internal training systems on SOP and present, as needed.Assist with implementation and transition to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.Support external audits, tax filings, and compliance requirements.Performs other related duties as assigned.Requirements :
REQUIRED SKILLS / ABILITIES :
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and financial data analysis.Ability to use QuickBooks Enterprise to record, store and analyze financial data.Ability to efficiently operate a 10-key calculator or equivalent and other related office equipment.High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Quickbooks Enterprise or similar software.Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Basic understanding of bookkeeping practices and procedures.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.Ability to establish priorities, take initiative, work independently and meet goals within a deadline.Dependability, thoroughness, accuracy and confidentiality are a must.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred, but not required).5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including general ledger and financial reporting.Prior experience supervising or mentoring accounting staff.Strong understanding of GAAP and internal control practices.Experience with ERP systems (Business Central preferred).Advanced Excel skills and ability to analyze financial data.Excellent communication and organizational skills.Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.Strong knowledge of QuickBooks Enterprise is a plus.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.WORK ENVIRONMENT :
Full-time, onsite, Monday – Friday position. Standard hours are 8 am – 5 pm.Why this Role Matters :
