Gastroenterologist Job Details

Position Type : Locum tenens gastroenterologist (contract / travel)

Setting : Hospital (Level 1 trauma center, 434 beds)

Start Date : May 3, 2026

End Date : June 28, 2026

Shift : 7 : 00am – 3 : 00pm (Monday–Friday), night beeper call M–F, 24-hour beeper call on weekends

Shift Duration : 8 Hour Days

Hours per Week : 40

Schedule : Full-time coverage preferred; minimum of 7 consecutive days per month considered

EMR : EPIC

Estimated Weekly Salary : $145,830 – $156,250 per week

Gastroenterologist Qualifications

Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology

Active Ohio medical license or eligibility to obtain (IMLC preferred)

DEA license required

Current ACLS certification

Minimum 1 year of experience as a practicing gastroenterologist

Proficiency in ERCP (minimum 150 in past 2 years) and EUS

Experience with esophageal, duodenal, and luminal stent placement (20 in past 2 years)

Colonoscopy experience (100 in past 2 years at initial appointment, 150 at reappointment)

Ability to complete moderate sedation education and post-test with at least 80% accuracy

Gastroenterology Job Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive GI coverage for adult patients in a Level 1 hospital setting

Perform ERCP, EUS, colonoscopy, EGD, stent placement, and advanced GI procedures

Conduct history and physical examinations

Perform argon plasma coagulation, mucosal biopsies, enteral alimentation, esophageal dilation, foreign body removal, flexible sigmoidoscopy, GI motility studies, and 24-hour pH monitoring

Manage nonvariceal hemostasis (upper and lower) and percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy

Participate in beeper call coverage (nights and weekends as scheduled)

Document all care in the EPIC EMR system
