Position Overview

The ORAMCO risk‑transfer underwriting facility evaluates prices and manages the unbundled primary risk‑transfer business written by Old Republic Risk Management. The Executive Underwriter will profitably grow our casualty loss‑sensitive book of business, which includes Workers’ Compensation, Auto, and General Liability lines. This role works closely with actuarial and sales teams to identify and pursue the best opportunities. The ORAMCO department is located in Chicago and supports risk‑transfer underwriting for the entire country.

Essential Job Functions

• Underwrite, document, and service a book of new and renewal large‑account loss‑sensitive casualty business.
• Understand, interpret, and apply predictive modeling results as part of the decision‑making process.
• Consider different approaches to accounts to maximize profitability.
• Execute strategies to drive profitable growth.
• Build relationships with our sales executives to evaluate accounts and develop creative solutions.
• Generate and support the implementation of ideas for continuous operational improvement.
• Create and build relationships with treaty and facultative reinsurers.
• Mentor and help train less experienced underwriters.
• Minimal travel.
