• Provide advanced clinical expertise in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) and collaborate with staff to develop individualized care plans for complex, high-risk patients.

• Establish, monitor, and evaluate nursing care standards; make evidence-based recommendations for improvements in clinical practice.

• Design and implement educational programs for staff, ensuring competency development and alignment with best practice standards.

• Deliver direct patient and family education programs, particularly for patients with complex cardiovascular conditions.

• Act as a consultant to physicians, nurses, and healthcare professionals in managing challenging patient cases and care pathways.

• Introduce, evaluate, and implement innovative care techniques, ensuring integration of the latest evidence-based practices.

• Contribute to nursing research, quality improvement initiatives, and outcome evaluations.

• Participate in staff recruitment, orientation, and evaluation, with a focus on clinical competence and professional growth.

Candidate requirements

Required:

• Minimum three (3) years of experience in a clinical specialty area, preferably in ICU or CVICU.

• Current California RN license.

• Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) certification by the California Board of Registered Nursing

• Current BLS certification (American Heart Association).

• Ability to work effectively within a Labor/Management Partnership environment.

• Strong experience in training staff and hosting nursing orientation programs.

Preferred

• ACLS or PALS Certification.

• MSN or DNP degree.

• Prior experience working as a Clinical Nurse Specialist.
