Madison Magazine and Morgan Murphy Media are searching for a new Editor in Chief for the prestigious publication. For more than 40 years, Madison Magazine has been at the crossroads of lifestyle and business, showcasing the dynamic ways each enriches the other. Our monthly publication and digital content are the market leader in editorial content, focused on the greater Madison area, covering local people, events, innovations, dining, and more. We pride ourselves on award‑winning service journalism that informs readers on what to do, where to go, and how to enjoy all the Madison community has to offer. Our acclaimed work has earned multiple honors from the Milwaukee Press Club and the City Regional Magazine Association. Beyond publishing, we actively engage with our community through numerous signature events such as Madison Restaurant Week and Best of Madison Business.

Position Summary

The Editor in Chief of Madison Magazine will be a visionary leader responsible for overseeing all editorial content while also contributing significantly to the business and financial aspects of the magazine. This role requires a unique blend of editorial expertise and business acumen to uphold the magazine’s reputation for excellence while driving financial performance and strategic growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the editorial team to produce compelling, high‑quality content that aligns with the magazine’s mission and audience interests.
• Ensure all editorial output maintains the highest standards of journalistic integrity and creativity.
• Collaborate closely with the business team to align editorial content with business goals and revenue strategies.
• Participate in budgeting, financial planning, and resource allocation to optimize the magazine’s financial health.
• Foster and maintain strong relationships with community partners, advertisers, and other stakeholders.
• Oversee the planning and execution of community events that enhance the magazine’s brand and community presence.
• Drive innovation in content delivery, including multimedia collaborations and digital initiatives.
• Embrace opportunities to extend magazine brand and build audience through unique collaboration with News 3 Now local editorial team.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in editorial leadership, preferably in regional or lifestyle magazines.
• Strong business and financial understanding related to publishing or media.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
• Passion for the Madison area and its diverse communities.
• Ability to balance creative vision with practical financial management.
