Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN with an active ID or compact license and recent ICU experience for a night shift critical care opportunity.

Responsibilities

Work in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) within an acute care hospital setting

Mixed patient population including medical, surgical, and neuro ICU cases

Common diagnoses include CABG, CVA, subarachnoid and intracerebral hemorrhage, GI bleeds, DKA, STEMI, septic shock, overdose, respiratory failure, neurosurgery, and open heart surgery

No trauma, burn, or transplant patients

Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1 : 1 and 1 : 2

Shift is 12 hours, nights (7p–7a), with every other weekend required

Floating required to other ICUs in the Valley including Meridian and Nampa Medical Centers; may float outside ICU as a 1 : 1 sitter

Epic EMR is used; experience preferred

No blocked scheduling or special requests for scheduling accepted

Permanent employees must have been separated from the facility for at least one year before applying for a travel assignment

CNA and respiratory therapist support available in unit 24 / 7

Resource and charge nurses available; charge nurse does not typically take an assignment

Unit-specific orientation provided (1–2 shifts)

May be required to work assigned holidays as needed

No call or standby requirements

No specified dress code or scrub color requirement

Applicants must live outside a 50-mile radius from the facility

Requirements

Active ID or compact state RN license required at time of consideration; pending licensure is not accepted

Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience required

Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required

Experience titrating critical care drips such as dopamine, epinephrine, norepinephrine, cardene, nitro, neo, vasopressin, diltiazem, insulin, and esmolol required

Ability to monitor and read cardiac strips required

Two professional references required : one supervisor reference from the past 12 months and one peer or supervisor reference from the past 3 years, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility

Copy of driver’s license required for consideration
