Job Title : Physician Assistant – Pediatric Critical Care (PCICU)

Location : San Francisco, CA

Start Date : January 26, 2026

Contract : 6 months (option to extend)

Position Overview :

Seeking an experienced Physician Assistant to join a leading Pediatric / Neonatal Critical Care team providing high-acuity care to cardiac and congenital patients. The role supports the Pediatric / Neonatal AHP Department (PCICU) in a collaborative, multidisciplinary inpatient setting focused on exceptional patient outcomes.

Schedule :

Variable 12-hour shifts (days, nights, weekends, holidays)

Must be available for at least 50% nights / weekends

Minimum : 4 shifts per month

Overtime : 1.4x rate after 12 hrs / day or 40 hrs / week

Holidays : 1.5x rate (major holidays)

Team & Setting :

2 PCICU teams : each with 1 Attending, 3 NPs, and 1 Fellow

Overnight : 1 Attending + 2 NPs

Average census : 17–18 patients

Population : Pediatric / neonatal (8 beds), ~8% adult congenital

Over 350 cardiac surgical cases annually (including ECMO, transplant, and heart failure)

EMR : Epic | Bed Size : 18

Procedures & Skills :

Perform IVs, arterial lines; occasional intubations or central lines

Manage pediatric cardiovascular critical care, ECMO / CRRT, and congenital cardiac patients

Heart failure experience preferred

Qualifications :

Active PA license (CA preferred; facility may assist with licensing)

DEA Schedule II , PALS , and BLS (AHA) required

Minimum 1 year PCICU experience (no stepdown or OR)

Preferred : ECMO and heart failure background
