We are assisting our confidential client with the search for a Contractor to provide System Design Engineering services. In this role, you will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to integrate the design of reactor enclosure systems and associated components. Responsibilities include establishing and maintaining system architecture, planning and executing requirements validation and verification, and ensuring alignment with regulatory standards and overall plant requirements.
Location : Remote or Bellevue, WA
Length of Assignment : 12 months

Responsibilities
- Interface with the design team to create and maintain system architecture definition and requirements documents, such as Design Basis Documents, P&IDs, and Interface Control Documents, for plant systems.
- Interface with design disciplines (such as mechanical, instrumentation and controls, civil, and nuclear) to identify and develop system design information and specify equipment design and performance criteria.
- Evaluate and establish design basis of equipment classifications, functions, and assessment of failure modes and their effects on system functionality.
- Analyze and apply regulatory criteria and standards to complex mechanical system design and provide technical direction and guidance to others in applicable nuclear and non-nuclear related design standards.
- Evaluate technology development requirements and implement development programs for engineering solutions.
- Support coordination of analyses, such as thermal, seismic, structural, pipe stress, heat transfer, and other analyses performed by others required for the design.
- Provide technical direction and interface to supplier projects, working with the contract administrator to ensure delivery of data and other deliverables, as well as coordination and performance of technical reviews of deliverables.
- Generate engineering change packages for key systems and sub-systems including coordination of calculations, design reports, mechanical drawings, and engineering design specifications
- Provide integration review of component engineering documentation
- Support continuous learning and application of nuclear industry best practices to maintain the highest quality of engineering design and proactively identify improvement opportunities
- Interface with and support licensing activities associated with Safety Analysis Reports.
- Participate in project design reviews at project milestones and periodic assessment points to verify compliance and completeness of design.
Key Qualifications
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited university and 2+ years direct experience with proven mechanical systems skills.Excellent technical writing, communication, and presentation skills.Attention to detail and aspiration for technical excellence.Candidate must be a self-starter and possess ability to coordinate and work within a design team with minimal direction.Ability to handle projects that include many competing objectives and design constraints, with ability to resolve conflicts between objectives.Ability to work on simultaneous tasks that require a multi-disciplinary approach.Demonstrated experience in developing design of complex structures, multi-discipline integration, and mechanical pressure vessel equipment.Strong understanding of configuration management principles, as well as knowledge of design control tools application on nuclear or similar complex industrial applications.Previous experience with nuclear reactors and systems, high temperature pressure vessels, or similar system design is highly desired.Experience working to quality standards on design activities, such as ASME NQA-1 or ISO 9001.Experience in originating and developing technical documentation to support system architecture is preferred.Functional knowledge of the ASME Sect III Code, is highly desired.The service provider will possess a high degree of trust and integrity, the propensity to communicate openly and display respect, and a desire to foster teamwork and deliver on the mission.Estimated Compensation Range : $37.00–$74.00 per hour. All experience levels considered.
