Maintenance Operations, a branch of the Facilities Operations and Maintenance Division, provides comprehensive maintenance services in support of the University's operations. Hiring decision is contingent on applicant clearing check. This job class may contain positions that are security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code 51.215. Applications will be reviewed online by the hiring department. This is a 40 hours a week, five 8-hour days, or possible four 10-hour days with schedule to be determined with supervisor. Some overtime, evening, weekends and holidays possible.

Purpose

Perform and document journey-level carpentry work in the maintenance, repair, or alteration of buildings.

Responsibilities

Required Qualifications

High school graduation or GED. Three years of experience as a journey level carpenter.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Associate degree in technical field. Completion of vocational, trade, or apprentice program in one or more journeyman trades. Five years experience. Experience at the University of Texas or in a university setting. Experience in more than one craft or trade. Excellent customer service skills. Demonstrated ability to work well within a team environment. Demonstrate excellent communication skills. Demonstrated ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Demonstrated ability to adhere to safety rules and regulations. Fire and Egress Door Assembly Inspector (FDAI) certification. Door + Hardware Consultant (DHC) certification.

Salary Range

$47,840 + depending on qualifications
