Experienced Veterinary Technician / Assistant - ER / CCU

VCA California Veterinary Specialists here in Ontario is the largest 24 hours Emergency and Specialty hospital in the Inland Empire. For almost 15 years, we have provided exceptional veterinary service and patient care. We take pride in what we do and are looking for a motivated individual who is willing to work with a strong team of individuals (including our VTS ECC) in a fast paced environment. This position is for an experienced Veterinary Technicia / VA. Our ERCC Department may be a great fit for these skills

• Monitor and perform treatments for patients requiring intensive management, recognize significant changes in the patient's condition, and notify the Doctor.
• Experienced with venipuncture and IV catheter placement on critical patients
• Anesthetic induction (RVTs) and monitoring of sensitive and critically ill patients
• Experience with specialized equipment care and use, and a willingness to learn new skills.
• Strong experience with care of urinary catheters, central lines, and nasal gastric tubes
• Solid mathematical skill and the ability to calculate CRI and medication dosages are a must
• Ability to run in-house lab samples and handle submissions to outside laboratories as needed
• Must be detailed oriented with the ability to bring attention to discrepancies in patient care and treatments
• Must be able to work productively with minimal supervision

This position is full-time, 4 / 10-hour shifts including at least 1 weekend day and may include holidays

Compensation : $23 - $25 / hour Compensation is negotiable based on education, experience, and other relevant credentials. $2 / hr Shift differential available for weekend and later hours
