Schedule and host the monthly Operations Management Meeting w / focus on training team members. Be an integral part of monthly Operation Reviews and Plan Presentations. Be an active participant / presenter in the All-Hands Meeting . Participate with Business Unit Manager in monthly department forecasting, annual planning, and department monthly meeting. Manage proactive staffing which compares project and assignments to a roster of resources . Take responsibility for proactive view of upcoming work and communicating that to all of the interested downstream partners. Take responsibility for ensuring that the Critical Processes from the PLC and Navigator are being done on all projects (including coach, guide and mentor around this content). Coordinate and drive activities across safety, supply chain, quality, construction operations, project / program management, and business development functions. Improve efficiency, reduce re-work, and prevent write-downs by evaluating processes and work-in-progress against expected production rates with project managers and labor leaders to uncover opportunities to streamline and reduce wasted time and materials. Work with sales, project managers and labor leaders to schedule manpower requirements based on forecasts, budget, scope, job schedule. Work with supply chain to give visibility on upcoming materials and equipment procurement based on project and order forecast / backlog. Ensure that project and operations staff are following set procedures when acquiring personnel for jobs. Make sure shop operations are performing in budgeted labor hours through published manpower plans. Ensure we execute professional high-quality projects. Work with logistics to make sure storage and deliveries meet standards, schedule, and contractual requirements. Keep track of union contracts and how it affects the business. Attend union labor committee meetings as needed. Hold operations personnel accountable for deadlines. Work with project managers and trade superintendents to keep crew sizes at the correct level to meet project needs and budgets. Work with safety dept. to manage safety training and implementation. Manage trade communication with internal / external customers when manpower needs to be shifted. Develop and retain talented staff. Educate and critique staff when required information is incomplete or incorrect. Work with Project Managers and labor leaders to organize and schedule post project – “lessons learned” meeting and document / share with team to constantly improve performance. Available to sales / estimating for manpower options and strategies. Participate in Bid Reviews to provide constructability review and ensure sound estimating practices. Attend client meetings, interviews and events as needed. Take on pursuits and budgeting exercises as assigned. Partner with the sales team, other department leaders and operations managers. The Opportunity with McKinstry
We are adding an Operations Director to join our growing Data Center Innovations business unit in Austin, TX. In this role you will lead, at an operational level, all aspects of Data Center construction operations, providing customer satisfaction, employee satisfaction and profitable outcomes. You will collaborate closely with business development efforts, operations, and other business units to successfully win and execute work that aligns with McKinstry capabilities and business plans. The pay range for this position is $134,730 - $239,500 per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Base pay information is based on market location. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and / or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
