JOB TITLE : Teaching Assistant : Osteopathic Medicine Department

SUPERVISOR : Chair of Osteopathic Manual Medicine Department

This job description provides a general outline of duties and qualifications of the position. Other duties may be assigned, and the description may be changed at any time. POSITION DESCRIPTION :

The Teaching Assistants (TA) for the Department are responsible for facilitating laboratory sessions with first-year Osteopathic students with faculty and answering questions with assistance from faculty.

RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to :

• Review the lecture material for the first-year students and be able to assist the students with new techniques based on the lecture material.
• Manage and do preparation for individual and / or group sessions.
• Recognize and utilize study techniques within the different learning styles and student preferences
• Create a professional and welcoming environment by modeling respect for students’ diverse cultures, language skills, and experiences
• Utilize feedback and reflection to improve practice
• Provide direct assistance in the use of equipment, learning objects, and materials needed for student success
