Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an Occupational Therapist with at least 1 year of acute care experience and EPIC EMR proficiency for an acute inpatient adult unit.
Responsibilities
Work in an acute inpatient adult care setting on the Occupational Therapy floor4x10-hour day shifts, 7 : 30am to 6 : 00pm, with weekend rotation requiredCaseload is 8-10 patients per day, staffed by 2-3 therapists per shiftCommon diagnoses include neurological (CVA, MS, Parkinson's, Guillain-Barré), general medical, orthopedic (total joints, fractures), cardiac (pacemakers), and oncology casesCoverage includes all acute adult care areas except ICU unless experienced, no outpatient or skilled nursingEPIC charting experience is requiredRole covers a maternity leave with strong likelihood of extension for additional contract periodsFirst-time travelers are welcome to applyNo blocked scheduling or special requests can be accommodatedAt least two days of unit-specific onboarding with an experienced OT preceptor are providedExpect to work 5 days of 8-hour shifts during the first onboarding weekWeekend coverage is typically every other full weekend with occasional two weekends off in a rowTravelers almost never work holidays but may be scheduled if neededAny color scrubs or business casual attire is acceptablePermanent employees must be separated for at least one year before applying for a travel positionRequirements
Active Occupational Therapist license required if applicableCurrent BLS certificationMinimum 1 year of acute care OT experience is required; acute rehab experience not sufficientExperience with adult acute care evaluation, treatment, and discharge planningAbility to communicate safe mobility plans to the interdisciplinary teamDrivers license required for considerationTwo professional references required : one supervisor reference from the past 12 months and one peer or supervisor reference from the past 3 yearsCandidates must live outside a 50-mile radius from the facilityBenefits
