Registered Nurse – Med Surg

Unit Name : 7th, Trauma Med Surg

Requirements :

Must have an Active TN RN License or Compact RN License in good standing

Minimum 2 years of Med Surg experience

Must Have : BLS certification

Hospital Certifications : Comprehensive Stroke, ACS Verified Level II Trauma Center, Certified Chest Pain Center

Requested Skill Set :

Med / Surg experience

Ability to prioritize care and multitask

Start IVs

Basic wound care

Maintenance of surgical drains, nasogastric tubes, and chest tubes

Dress Code :

Navy scrubs (tops and bottoms required)

Unit Specifics : Number of Beds : 34

Patient Ratios : 6 : 1

Unit Staffing : Tech support on days and nights; unit secretary on shift 7a–7p

Equipment Used : IV pumps, telemetry, SCDs, continuous pulse ox machines, feeding pumps, PCA, EKG machines, bladder scanner, iMobile communication technology

Documentation System : Meditech

Scheduling Requirements :

Three 12-hour shifts per week

2 weekends (4 shifts) per 4-week schedule

Floating Policy : Contract labor floats first.

Rotation system used when multiple contract staff are scheduled

Patient Experience Expectations :

Provide attentive and compassionate patient and family care

Perform bedside shift report

Build personal connections with patients and include families in the plan of care
