About the Role :

We're looking for a forward-thinking Director of Engineering with deep experience in backend systems, enterprise data management, and cloud-native architecture on GCP to drive innovation across our retail and e-commerce business. The ideal candidate brings a strong track record of scaling data and backend platforms and managing technical teams.

Experience in the apparel retail industry and the Shopify platform is a strong plus.

Key Responsibilities :

Leadership & Strategy

Lead and scale a high-performing team of backend and data engineers.

Partner with business stakeholders to define and execute on a data lake roadmap that supports our growth and innovation goals.

Shape engineering culture to emphasize performance, scalability, experimentation, and continuous improvement.

Backend Engineering & Cloud Architecture

Architect and maintain scalable, secure microservices and APIs built on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

Drive best practices in DevOps, CI / CD, observability, and infrastructure automation.

Build and optimize backend platforms that power core retail operations and digital customer experiences.

Enterprise Data

Own the architecture and evolution of enterprise data systems - including data lakes, ETL pipelines, real-time data processing, and analytics platforms.

Ensure robust data governance, privacy, and security across all platforms.

Retail & E-Commerce Technology

Oversee backend integrations with Shopify, ERP, POS, and customer systems.

Guide the development of APIs and data flows supporting headless commerce, omnichannel retail, and modern e-commerce experiences.

Use domain knowledge in apparel retail to influence product features and system design aligned with business needs.

Qualifications :

8+ years of software engineering experience, with 2+ years in a director-level or senior leadership role.

Deep expertise in backend development and cloud-native architecture on GCP (BigQuery, Vertex AI, Cloud Run, Pub / Sub, etc.).

Proven experience building and scaling enterprise data systems.

Strong technical foundation in microservices, APIs, and event-driven architecture.

Experience with Shopify and retail technology stack is highly preferred.

Strong people management skills with a passion for mentorship and team building.

Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
