Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Structural Engineer to take control of their career potential in our Detroit office. This position will partner with a multi-discipline team to develop designs of electrical substations to support the safe and reliable delivery of electricity across the United States and Canada. Opportunities may include, but not limited to :
Thinking creatively to address the complex challenges faced by the largest utilities in North America.
Performing rigid bus analysis and the design of electrical substation steel structures, equipment foundations, structure foundations and secondary oil containment.
Providing support for our clients during construction.
Performing field inspections and compliance documentation.
Leading a team of single- or multi-discipline professionals to ensure project success.
Presenting designs and proposals to clients, permitting authorities, public interest groups, etc.
Corresponding and / or meeting with clients, contractors, and vendors.
Participating in project proposal efforts.
Advancing into leadership roles.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program. and 3 years of structural engineering experience required or
Bachelor's degree Bachelor of Science in Structural or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam. and 3 years of structural engineering experience required
Master Degree of Science degree in Structural Engineering and 2 years of structural engineering experience required
Strong knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills.
Proficient in standard engineering techniques and procedures.
Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite).
Strong computer skills include structural analysis programs (e.g., RISA 3D), AutoCAD, ETABS, SAFE and BIM (e.g., Revit and Tekla).
Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.
Engineers in Training-EIT Certification Preferred
Compensation
$100,000.00-140,000.00
This job posting will remain open a minimum of 72 hours and on an ongoing basis until filled.
