As a Behavior Technician, you'll play a hands-on role in supporting adults with intellectual disabilities and autism inbuilding life skills, communicating, engaging socially, and learning strategies to manage their behavior. Guided by a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), you'll use evidence-based practices to create positive change - one interaction at a time!
Essential Job Duties
- Provide direct 1 : 1 behavior support to adults in home, community, and / or day program settings
- Implement individualized treatment plans approved by a BCBA
- Collaboration with other community-based team members, including the assigned BSC
- Study all relevant records regarding the VIP you are assigned
- Teach functional skills such as communication, daily living, vocational readiness, and coping strategies
- Collect clear, accurate data to track progress and guide treatment decisions.
- Support adults in achieving meaningful goals-whether that's navigating the community, building relationships, or increasing self-advocacy
- Use creative problem-solving and compassion to overcome challenges and celebrate successes
- Collaborate with an upbeat, supportive team committed to professional growth and client-centered care
- Accurately complete all documentation and reports of individuals (progress notes, recording data, mileage logs) and hand them in promptly when due
- Maintaining a good rapport with VIPs families ongoingly
- Completing 24 hours of the required annual training
- Have reliable transportation to get to and from work, as well as to transport VIPs when needed
- Utilize Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) strategies, engage in supervision and training, and collaborate with the team, staff members, and families on the strategies outlined in the behavior plan
