Protocol Engineer

A company is looking for a Protocol Engineer to advance an encrypted messaging protocol and contribute to product development.

Key Responsibilities

Advance the encrypted XMTP messaging protocol to enhance product development and capabilities

Collaborate with team members to design systems, evaluate trade-offs, and deliver improvements focusing on security, scalability, and efficiency

Engage as an open source contributor to implement changes that benefit the company and promote privacy-preserving applications

Required Qualifications

10+ years of professional experience as a staff-level software engineer

Expertise in mobile development using Kotlin, Swift, React Native, or C++ with production-ready SDKs or apps

Solid experience with Rust or a strong interest in learning Rust

Experience in building and maintaining communication protocols, SDKs, or developer-facing APIs

Prior involvement in open source SDK projects and public communications
