Senior Mainframe Storage Software / Systems Architect
Analyze and configure Mainframe DASD storage availability, SMS constructs, ACS routines Resumes must show experience in the following :
- z System architectures (z / OS / z / VM)
- DASD
- Storage
- 10 years experience, with Master's degree. Additional 10 years plus BS degree (20 years total) may be substituted for Master's.
Roles and responsibilities
Monitor, support, maintain, and enhance associated storage, backups, and data replication for SysplexesAnalyze and determine cause of Mainframe DASD space concernsConfigure Mainframe DASD space capacity where requiredAnalyze and configure required SMS modificationsAnalyze and configure required Mainframe ACS code modificationsMonitor DASD storage resources for performance and available spaceProcess required Mainframe SMS construct modifications online using TSO logonTest all changes using the test environment prior to installation.Analyze, identify and perform catalog reorg'sAnalyze and configure management class constructs defining retention requirements for data sets.Analyze and configure Hierarchical Storage Management (HSM) parameter library members assigned to control executionFulfill SNOW ticket requests for mainframe customers in a timely manner as they pertain to Mainframe Storage administration and related productsAnalyze and perform the steps to reorganize control data setsSupport and configure IBM Mainframe storage management disciplines utilizing DF / SMS ACS routinesReview Mainframe DASD storage thresholds to determine adequate space availabilityAnalyze and determine cause of DASD space concernsAnalysis of Mainframe DASD storage usage availabilityProvide estimates and recommendation of DASD and storage requirementsConfigure DASD storage space available to correct DASD space shortageReview Mainframe backup schedules to determine adequate recoverabilityReview data replication resource availability and statusAnalyze, determine and provide resolution of DASD backup and data replication failuresDocument, report and address in ticketing system, the status of tape storage availability issuesReview Mainframe DASD performance with 3rd party vendor personnel verbally and in writingBrief management, customer, team, or vendors using written or oral skills at appropriate technical level for audienceProvide DASD and tape storage administration support for our customersManage storage pools for multiple customers and LPARsPerform problem diagnostics and resolutionCreate and oversee jobs for daily, weekly, and monthly backupsPerform data and volume recoveryProvide support on 24 x 7 x 365 basis across multiple time zonesInteract with hardware and software vendors as requiredMaintain documentation of issue cause, action, and resolution in the designated problem tracking system.In joint co-operation with the Disaster Recovery Services and other technical teams, successfully execute tasks associated with any given customer's disaster recovery plansAid and assist other mainframe teams as required to support them and our clients.Adhere to a schedule that efficiently manages resources and allows timely implementationsFollow SNOW change control proceduresQualifications
Experience with z System architectures (z / OS / z / VM)Must have experience with DASDMust have experience with storageKnowledge in z / OS , z / VM, SMP / E, JES / EJES , TSO / ISPF , DFSMS Management, Capacity Management, VTAM, and JCLKnowledge on hardware such as IBM TS7700 series and EMC, VMAXExperience in Installation and using IBM TS7700 series and EMC, replication softwareMust be able to support 24 x 7 x 365 basis across multiple time zonesKnowledge of MS teamsKnowledge and experience with SASUnderstanding of JES3Knowledge of doing SMF or RMF researchAbility to perform ISPF commands to manipulate data file editingEducation :
