General Summary
Under the supervision of an RN, LPN, or shift manager, the Patient Care Assistant delivers hands-on care to patients, ensuring their well-being and safety throughout their stay.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Education
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Experience
At least one year of experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is preferred.
Certification and Training
Those without certification or with less than one year of experience must complete a specialized Patient Care Assistant training academy. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within the first 90 days of employment; training is provided.
Mental and Physical Requirements
This role requires significant mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 pounds, standing, walking, and various movements such as turning, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching.
Working Conditions
Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases through blood and bodily fluids is expected. The position may occasionally involve interaction with hostile individuals.
