American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a high-acuity Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with a focus on oncology and telemetry care, requiring an OH or compact RN license.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Position is in a hospital-based, high-acuity PCU with medical oncology and progressive care beds36-bed Oncology Telemetry unit with more than 24 beds at PCU level and occasional pediatric patients (pediatric RN experience not required)Patient diagnoses include solid tumor, orthopedic oncology, and thoracic oncology casesTypical nurse-to-patient ratios are 1 : 4-5 for Med Surg Tele and 1 : 3 for PCU patientsNight shift position with 3x12-hour shifts (19 : 00-07 : 30); day / night shift option availableFloat required to units of equivalent or lower acuityUses GE B450 telemetry monitors, Alaris pumps, bladder scanners, Stryker beds, and PCA pumpsInitial orientation consists of one week on dayshift and a second week with on-unit preceptorResponsibilities include care for oncology and high-acuity PCU patients, infection prevention, fall prevention, and various specialized procedures such as chest tube management and tracheostomy careSelf-scheduling is available, with requests submitted before final schedules are postedWeekend shifts are variable; holiday coverage may be required based on unit needsTraining includes structured orientation with preceptor supportStrict compliance with Ohio fingerprinting process is required upon contract signingFirst-time travelers are welcome to applyFormer employees must have a 6-month gap before being eligible for travel assignmentsLocals are accepted at the same rate\n \n Requirements\n
Active OH or compact RN license in hand at time of considerationCertifications required : BCLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke ScaleMinimum of 2 years recent high-acuity PCU experience requiredExperience in oncology preferred but not requiredProficient in dysrhythmia interpretation, rapid response, IV starts, feeding tube care, central and peripheral line management, and blood product administrationEMR / charting system experience not specifiedEducation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program requiredMust provide two professional references, one from a formal leader or supervisor\n Benefits\n
