Clinic Float - CNA, MA
The Clinical Float is responsible for a broad variety of patient care, technical and clerical related functions. Coordinates patient flow for physicians and ensures continuity of high level of patient care and efficient patient flow by ensuring the healthcare team follows clinical standards of excellent care.
Primary duties and responsibilities include :
- Performing clinical duties, such as taking vital signs, setting up and assisting with minor procedures, blood pressure, point of care testing, etc.
- Assisting physicians with clinical procedures, such as injections / aspirations, casting, wound management, verifying and preparing medications, and prepping the patient.
- Preparing charts for upcoming clinics.
- Retrieving and entering patient data for MRIs, X-Rays, EMGs, etc.
- Coordinating surgery scheduling as needed.
- Ensuring rooming of patients in a timely manner in order to maintain clinic flow for physicians and physician assistants.
- Receiving incoming patient calls and returning patient calls in a timely manner.
- Recording accurate, complete, legible and timely documentation as needed in the patient's medical record.
- Providing patient education related to treatment recommendations.
- Assisting physicians and physician assistants with ordering medications and diagnostic testing.
- Scribing for physicians and physician assistants.
- Completing patient paperwork in a timely manner.
- Following correct procedures for handling and disposing of biohazardous, infectious, and pharmaceutical waste.
- Preparing, cleaning and sterilizing, and / or reprocessing, instruments and maintaining equipment, according to organizational standards.
- Anticipating and proactively planning for practitioner and patient needs.
- Providing open and timely communication and information to patients, families, and practitioners (as appropriate).
- Reporting pertinent observations and information, both written and verbal, to appropriate staff.
- Assisting in orientation of new team members.
- Maintaining all necessary certifications and licensure, including first aid and / or CPR, state licensure, national certifications, and continuing education.
- Staying up to date on required trainings such as OSHA, Medicare fraud / waste training, blood borne pathogens training, and sexual harassment training.
- Maintaining strict patient confidentiality and following all HIPAA guidelines.
- Other duties as assigned.

High School Diploma or GED, requiredCertified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), or ability to obtain Registered Orthopedic Technician (ROT) certification successfully within 6 months from date of hire and maintain certification renewal every 2 years, requiredOne year of experience in a similar role, preferredWorking knowledge of Microsoft and Google Suites, preferredEnvironmental / Working Conditions :
