LHH is partnering with a stable and established organization seeking a Controller to lead and direct its accounting operations. This is an exciting opportunity for a finance leader who thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys shaping financial policy, developing staff, and driving process improvements. The Controller will play a key role in ensuring the organization's financial integrity and supporting its continued growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all accounting functions, including financial reporting, audit preparation, budgeting, payroll, and treasury.
- Develop and implement accounting systems, procedures, and standards to ensure effective financial management.
- Maintain and enforce robust internal controls to support the proper expenditure and recording of organizational, federal, state, and grant funds.
- Prepare and review monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and other relevant standards.
- Lead the annual audit process, including preparation of reports, schedules, and timelines.
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate accounting staff; provide or coordinate training and professional development.
- Collaborate with department heads and program managers to compile, prepare, and monitor budgets for various programs and grants.
- Oversee procurement, fixed asset management, and general ledger activities.
- Ensure timely and accurate filing of all tax returns and fiscal reports.
- Maintain strong banking relationships and manage lines of credit as needed.
- Advise leadership on legal, tax, and financial matters.
- Support process improvement initiatives and stay current on industry trends and best practices.
- Uphold confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism in all interactions.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field (required); CPA preferred but not required.Minimum of ten (10) years of accounting experience, including at least five (5) years in a similar roleStrong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and audit processes.Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and motivate a high-performing accounting team.Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a dynamic environment.High level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism.Benefits
