Job Description:

The Director of Nursing is a pivotal leadership role responsible for the strategic oversight and operational management of the Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) and Vocational Nursing (VN) programs. This position is integral to ensuring the delivery of high-quality nursing education, maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, and fostering an environment of academic excellence. The Director of Nursing will leverage their advanced expertise in nursing education and administration to drive program success and student achievement.

The role encompasses a broad spectrum of responsibilities, including curriculum development, staff supervision, and regulatory compliance. The Director will collaborate with institutional leadership to align program objectives with organizational goals, ensuring the continuous improvement of educational outcomes and adherence to accreditation standards.

Responsibilities:
• Supervise and evaluate instructional staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality education.
• Direct advisory committee activities to align programs with industry standards and stakeholder expectations.
• Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations, including Texas Board of Nursing Examiners requirements.
• Prepare and submit required documentation to regulatory and accreditation bodies.
• Monitor and approve instructor lesson plans and ensure timely posting.
• Screen and evaluate instructional applicants to maintain a high standard of faculty expertise.
• Review curriculum and textbooks in collaboration with instructors, program managers, advisory boards, and the Campus President.
• Analyze student evaluations, externship feedback, employer surveys, and graduate surveys to inform program improvements.
• Participate in the enrollment process by interviewing prospective students as needed.
• Conduct new student orientations and provide guidance on program expectations.
• Review completion and placement rates in collaboration with the Director of Career Services and Campus President.
• Schedule and conduct in-service training sessions to support faculty development.
• Develop and manage the annual academic calendar, including program start dates.
• Assist the registrar in maintaining accurate employee and student records.
• Monitor compliance with Texas Workforce Commission (TWC), federal, and accrediting standards.
• Adhere to and enforce academic policies and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Contribute to the development of new programs to meet emerging industry needs.
• Provide student advising and support to foster academic and professional success.
• Collaborate with the Director of Education/Education Coordinator on administrative functions and strategic initiatives.

Qualifications:
• Licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Texas.
• Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
• A minimum of five (5) years of teaching and/or administrative experience in a professional nursing program.
• Active employment in nursing within the past five (5) years, preferably in administration or teaching, with at least one (1) year of teaching experience in a pre-licensure nursing education program.
• Advanced preparation in nursing, nursing education, and nursing administration, with relevant professional experience considered.
• Five (5) years of varied nursing experience since graduation from a professional nursing education program.
• Demonstrated competency in nursing, education, and administration through advanced degrees or equivalent professional experience.
• Ability to delegate program management responsibilities to qualified nursing faculty when holding additional responsibilities outside the program.
• Commitment to maintaining compliance with Federal, State, and Institutional accreditation standards.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills to effectively manage program operations and foster a culture of excellence.
