At Straight Edge Customs we specialize in all aspects of carpentry!

• Framing new homes, commercial buildings and multifamily projects.
• Installing Doors and Windows.
• Installing interior trim and cabinets.
• installing exterior siding.
• Building new decks.
• Building new custom cabinets in our cabinet shop.

Position Overview :

We are currently seeking both new and experienced carpenters to join our dynamic team. As a carpenter, you will be responsible for constructing, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures made of various materials, such as wood, metal, and plastic. The ideal candidates will possess excellent woodworking skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment. Whether you are just starting your career or have several years of experience, we welcome you to apply and contribute to our growing organization.

Key Responsibilities :

1. Interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine project specifications and requirements.

2. Measure, cut, shape, and assemble materials according to design plans.

3. Install structures and fixtures, such as cabinets, doors, windows, and molding, ensuring they are level, plumb, and secure.

4. Repair and replace faulty or damaged structures and fixtures.

5. Operate hand and power tools, such as drills, saws, planes, routers, and sanders.

6. Utilize appropriate safety equipment and follow all established safety guidelines and procedures.

7. Collaborate with project managers, architects, and other team members to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.

8. Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring tools and materials are properly stored and maintained.

9. Calculate dimensions and requirements for materials based on project specifications.

10. Adhere to building codes and regulations, ensuring compliance with all applicable standards.

11. Continuously update carpentry knowledge and skills through attending workshops and staying informed about industry trends and advancements.

Qualifications :

1. Previous experience in carpentry is preferred, but we are also open to hiring new carpenters who are willing to learn and develop their skills.

2. Proficient in using hand and power tools commonly used in carpentry work.

3. Solid understanding of construction and carpentry techniques, materials, and processes.

4. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and architectural drawings.

5. Strong attention to detail and ability to measure accurately.

6. Physical stamina and dexterity required to perform tasks that involve standing, bending, lifting, and operating heavy machinery.

7. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot and resolve potential issues.

8. Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with team members.

9. Knowledge of safety procedures and ability to follow established guidelines to ensure a safe work environment.

10. High school diploma or equivalent; additional vocational or technical training is a plus.

11. Must have a current / valid driver's license.
