ROLE of the POSITION
UNLV College of Engineering is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join faculty in the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering as an Assistant Professor in Residence. The successful candidate will possess a strong background in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a closely related field, a passion for teaching, and / or hands-on / industry experience. The role involves teaching undergraduate courses, participate in department and college activities, and contributing to the broader academic community.
Key responsibilities constitute developing and teaching courses in Electrical and Computer Engineering areas including but not limited to Digital Logic Design I & II, Circuits I & II, Digital Systems Design and Architecture, and Senior Design capstone. The candidate will prepare and deliver lectures, lead discussions, and provide hands-on instructions. Additionally, they are expected to collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, ABET evaluation and other departmental activities, mentor and advise students on academic and career matters, participate in the department’s and college’s meetings, and serve on the committees.
PROFILE of the DEPARTMENT
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering offers B.S.in Electrical Engineering, B.S. in Computer Engineering, M.S. in Electrical Engineering and Ph.D.in Electrical Engineering. The department has 18 tenure or tenure-track faculty members. The faculty groups to four sub-area committees (SAC) : 1. Electronics and Circuits; 2. Computer Engineering; 3. Solid state materials, Electromagnetism and Power; 4. Signal Processing, Control and Communication.
Many of our faculty have expertise in more than one of these areas and they teach courses in multiple areas. The areas of the faculty’s active research are : nanotechnology, spintronics, opto-electronics, renewable power, integrated electrical / biological / optical circuits and systems, image processing and analysis, embedded DSP, digital design, logic synthesis, computer architecture, embedded systems, robotics, nonlinear and hybrid control systems, intelligent transportation systems, wireless networks, 3G and 4G cellular systems, agile radio, electromagnetics, plasma physics, pulsed power, microwaves, optics, radiation hardened electronics, optics, and imaging systems, high energy density physics diagnostics, space flight instrumentation, laser spectroscopy, and other.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires a Ph.D. degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and / or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) must be obtained prior to the start date.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates are expected to hold a PhD in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field. A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related area is preferred. The ideal candidate will have a commitment to high-quality education, with the ability to engage and inspire students. They should also have knowledge of current industry practices and emerging trends in construction and management.
