Job Description:
Essential Job Functions:
Oral prophylaxis; oral hygiene instructions including proper tooth brushing, flossing, nutrition, as well as the need for professional care.
Application of topical fluorides; placement of sealants; screen and evaluate patients regarding caries detection, periodontal pathology, oral cancer, and medical history.
Expose radiographs; supra and sub gingival scaling and root planing.
Procedures involving team periodontal surgical techniques; gross debridement in the treatment of acute periodontal conditions.
Performing expanded duties where qualified; administration of local anesthetics.
Carry out oral health assessment and record the medical history of the patient.
Able to give preventive and therapeutic treatment.
Accurately documents information in patient records.
Attends to the needs of patients with the utmost patience, care, compassion and understanding.
Primarily responsible for the initiation and maintenance of the dental prevention and dental education program.
Assists in the training of dental assistants.
Performs other duties as assigned by Clinical Staff.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Working knowledge of all phases of the field of dental hygiene.
Skills in the techniques of oral hygiene procedures and the use of equipment, instruments, and materials.
Knowledge and practice of preventative dentistry and ability to instruct patients individually and in groups.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and staff.
Experience and Education Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited School of Dental Hygiene.
Licensed as a Registered Dental Hygienist by the State of Missouri.
Maintain current CPR certification.
Previous experience desired, but not required.

Employment Requirements:
Must provide evidence that incumbent is free of infectious and contagious disease, such as TB, prior to beginning employment and annually thereafter.
Successful completion of background check including criminal record, driving record and abuse/neglect.
Completion of New Hire Orientation at the beginning of employment.
All training requirements including Relias Learning at the beginning of employment and annually thereafter.
Annual maintenance of licenses, and certifications.
Physical Requirements:
