Software Development Manager

We look at the entire facilityinside and outand can impact 70% of what a building operator allocates critical budget dollars toward including : Strategic electricity and natural gas procurement renewable energy and demand response; climate impact reduction and reporting net zero strategies and sustainability planning; roofing solar HVAC assessment management pavement building envelope data center optimization and EV charging; lighting / LED retrofits HVAC / mechanical systems and BMS / BAS improvements and implementation.

About the Role :

We are seeking a strategic and technically proficient Software Development Manager to lead our engineering team in Houston. This role is ideal for a leader who thrives at the intersection of technology and business and who can guide teams through the full software development lifecycleincluding AI-driven initiativeswhile interfacing directly with executive stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of software engineers working across Ruby on Rails React and PostgreSQL stacks.
• Proactively communicate team progress and technical details to executive leadership translating team-level activities into strategic updates for senior stakeholders.
• Act as a product ownerfor twosoftware product lines : triageadjudicate and prioritize incoming business requests break down problems and funnel work to the team effectively.
• Architect scalable forward-looking solutions that address current and future business needs.
• Drive the implementation of AI-enhanced SDLC practices ensuring intelligent and efficient development workflows.
• Interface regularly with executive leadership to align technical strategy with business objectives.
• Oversee technology demand governance ensuring prioritization and resource alignment across initiatives.
• Act as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams translating business needs into actionable development plans.
• Oversee project planning sprint execution code reviews and deployment strategies.
• Foster a collaborative inclusive and high-performance team culture.
• Ensure software quality security and maintainability across all projects.
