Overview
The Lead Catering Cook Prep + Event Cook at Spice Catering Co. plays a vital role in both our production kitchen and on-site event execution. This position is responsible for preparing ingredients, executing recipes to specification, and ensuring quality, consistency, and presentation of food in both daily prep work and leading during off-site events. Ideal candidates are passionate about from-scratch cooking, detail-oriented, and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
Execute prep lists accurately and efficiently under the direction of the culinary leadership teamFollow recipes and portioning standards to maintain quality and consistencyMaintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work station and kitchenAssist with packing and loading of equipment and ingredients for eventsSet up and break down cooking stations on-site with care and professionalismCook and plate dishes to order during events, ensuring timely service and presentationSupport back-of-house team during all phases of event production, from prep to service to breakdownCommunicate proactively with chefs and event leads to ensure smooth serviceAdhere to all food safety and sanitation standards in the kitchen and at eventsMentor, coach, and hold BOH team members accountable to Spice standards and core valuesLead daily pre-shift meetings and delegate responsibilities to ensure kitchen successEssential Skills
Basic knife skills and familiarity with commercial kitchen equipmentAbility to follow directions and work as part of a cohesive teamAble to lift 50 lbs and work on your feet for extended periodsFlexible and adaptable to varying work locations and event formatsProven leadership experience in a professional kitchen environmentStrong knowledge of BOH operations, culinary technique, and food safetyAbility to lead, coach, and inspire a team with professionalism and positivityOrganized, efficient, and detail-oriented with excellent time management skillsComfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced settingBonus Skills
