Pay Rate / Range : The budgeted salary range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $42.32 / hr. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience; the budget for the position; and the application of fair, equitable, and consistent pay practices at the University. The full salary range for this position is $40.33 / hr. to $48.70 / hr.

Work Location : Webb Hall - 1006

Working Days and Hours : M-F, 8am to 5pm

Brief Summary of Job Duties :

Supervises departmental shop and associated personnel. Oversees development and maintenance of existing and planned sample preparation laboratories. Works closely with instructors on organization and logistical support for departmental summer field camp and class field trips. Works with faculty and graduate students on design, construction, training, and maintenance of equipment and sample needs associated with Earth Science laboratory courses. Designs and fabricates equipment for research and instructional purposes. Serves as department safety officer and trains students in safe lab and field practices. Serves as project manager for departmental space maintenance, renovations and new construction.

Required Qualifications :

• High School Diploma
• 1-3 years In a shop setting
• Basic carpentry, welding, plumbing, electrical skills.
• Basic repair skills for campus or field equipment.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Basic knowledge of construction design and fabrication.
• Comprehensive knowledge of shop practices and machining.

Special Conditions of Employment :

Required to hold a valid driver's license, have a driving record that is in accordance with local policies and procedures, and / or enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program.

Satisfactory criminal history background check
