SCOPE : The role is responsible for managing all workplace safety and environmental compliance activities across the facility. This includes conducting training, audits, inspections, and ensuring adherence to OSHA, EPA, state, and federal regulations. This role is also responsible for safety reporting, emergency preparedness, and continuous improvement initiatives-while supporting a strong safety culture and preventing regulatory violations.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS / EXERIENCE :
- Bachelor's in occupational safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related field is preferred
- Associate degree with relevant certifications (e.g., OSHA 30, HAZWOPER, NFPA, or CHST) and 3+ years of hands-on experience can be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree
- 1-3 years of industrial experience in safety, environmental programs, or regulatory compliance
- Experience with workplace safety audits, risk assessments, emergency response planning, and environmental reporting
- Basic understanding of SPCC, SWPPP, VOC, and TCEQ reporting requirements
- Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to lead safety meetings and training sessions at all levels
- Ability to travel to other locations and perform site wide evaluations
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, etc.)
RESPONSIBILITIES : HEALTH
Track and maintain all occupational health assessments, including hearing tests, respirator fit tests, and ergonomic evaluationsEnsure employees receive and complete all required health-related training, including job-specific PPE use and safe work practicesMaintain and update Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) and associated documentationProvide support for health-related improvements during Continuous Improvement eventsMonitor and implement updates related to federal occupational health regulationsSupport leadership in promoting a health-focused, safety-first culture through employee engagement and recognition initiativesSAFETY
Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety programs in compliance with OSHA and state / local regulationsConduct routine safety inspections, hazard assessments, and Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) throughout the facilityLead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and manage corrective / preventive action trackingDeliver safety training for new hires, annual refreshers, and specialized programs such as forklift certification, Lockout / Tagout (LOTO), and arc flash awarenessCoordinate and execute emergency response training and drillsEnsure readiness of all emergency equipment and perform monthly / quarterly / annual documented inspections of said equipment (fire extinguishers, eyewash stations, hoists, lifting fixtures, first aid kits, etc.)Maintain all required safety documentation, including OSHA 300 logs, safety boards, training records, and manualsPrepare and distribute monthly and annual safety performance reports, complete required OSHA reportingCoordinate and lead the annual OSHCON consultation to identify compliance gaps and improvement opportunitiesStay current on OSHA webinars, Marmon safety communications, and federal safety regulation changes, applying updates to site programs and training as neededLead monthly Safety Committee meetings, track action items, and follow up on incidents, trends, and employee safety concernsENVIRONMENTAL
Develop, implement, and maintain environmental compliance programs in alignment with EPA, TCEQ, and local regulatory requirementsManage all environmental permits and reporting, including TCEQ submissions, stormwater testing, waste disposal records, and VOC trackingMaintain and update site environmental documentation such as SPCC and SWPPP plansConduct inspections to ensure compliance with environmental storage, handling, and disposal requirementsComplete annual environmental reporting and ensure timely renewal of permitsMonitor federal and state environmental regulation updates and proactively apply changes to site operations and documentationPerform other duties, as assigned.REQUIRED PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
