Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced HVAC / Facilities Technician to support a mission-critical medical device research facility. This role ensures the proper functioning of building systems, including HVAC, boilers, generators, and Building Automation Systems (BAS), to maintain environmental conditions required for sensitive research activities. The position is a 6-month contract-to-hire opportunity.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and maintain HVAC systems, boilers, and generators to ensure optimal performance.
- Operate and troubleshoot Building Automation Systems (BAS) including sensors, controllers, actuators, and user interfaces.
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on critical infrastructure.
- Respond to internal customer complaints and resolve facility-related issues promptly.
- Coordinate with vendors for repairs beyond in-house capabilities.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols, including lockout / tagout procedures.
- Maintain environmental conditions such as air pressure, humidity, and temperature within specified ranges.
- Support research operations by ensuring facility readiness for animal and cadaver studies.
Qualifications
Minimum of 4 years of technician experience in HVAC or facilities maintenance.Valid 2nd Class Engineer Boiler License (C2) required; other boiler licenses (e.g., 2B or Chief) may be considered.Proficiency in BAS systems and familiarity with protocols such as BACnet and Modbus.Strong understanding of building operations, including chilled water systems and generator support.Ability to work in a secure environment involving animal and cadaver testing.Preferred Skills
Certified Facility Engineer (CFE) certification.Military experience in facilities or mechanical systems.Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.Strong customer service orientation.
