Summary :

  • Experienced zOS Systems Programmer (IBM Mainframe Systems).
  • There will be no extensive lifting, walking or standing.
  • No Covid mandate on vax.
  • Ability to perform the tasks of a zOS Systems Programmer maintaining and upgrading the zOS Operating System and supporting users.
  • This assignment is a hybrid position, located in Boulder Colorado, where the candidate may need to come on site periodically.
  • We would consider a remote worker (U.S.) for the right candidate that contains the required z / OS skills and technical knowledge.
  • There is no extensive lifting, standing, or walking. No driving is required as well. Dress code is casual business attire.Parking is free.
  • Prefer Part time worker (3 days per week), office Hours : 8 : 00 AM to 5 : 00 PM (Mon, Tue, and Fri).

REQUIRED SKILLS :

  • Mainframe zOS systems software programming experience and expertise
  • Experience working with hardware to include a basic understanding of FICON / ESCON connectivity, DASD architecture [alias (PAV) management, cryptographic coprocessors, data encryption techniques] and virtual (VTS) tape libraries.
  • zOS experience with catalog management, ISPF / SDSF, z / FS Filesystems, Unix System Services, RACF, JES parameters, SYS1.PARMLIB, SYS1.PROCLIB members.
  • zOS SYSPLEX management including couple dataset definition and coupling facilities.
  • Dataset / Storage / Disk / Tape management (allocation, backup, restore, etc.) including DFDSS, DFSMS storage constructs, DFHSM Mgmt / Cleanup, DFRMM, XCF, System Logger, etc.
  • Ability to debug and resolve Mainframe operating system software issues (across older to current z / OS levels)
  • Work well in a team environment
  • Ability to teach and assist users and other team members
  • Availability to work some weekend / off-shift coverage and maintenance windows
  • Deep knowledge of zOS and JES System Programming

    • EDUCATION / CERTIFICATIONS :

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of work experience, or equivalent zOS experience.

    • Roles & Responsibilities :

  • The experienced z / OS systems programmer candidate will join a small team of technical system experts who manage, upgrade, and support IBM zOS Mainframe systems.
  • The Development Support team provides valuable systems, expertise, and support to Development professionals who are responsible for multiple stages of development from requirements definition, architecture, implementation, and customer support for software and hardware print products.
  • The successful candidate will be provided an opportunity to immediately contribute to zOS Mainframe-related tasks and projects, as well as opportunities to utilize, increase, and share their technical knowledge and skills in the mainframe operating systems.
  • The candidate will leverage their expertise of mainframe operating systems and strong problem-solving skills to upgrade systems, resolve system issues, and assist and educate users and other team members.
  • The new team member will be expected to assume additional responsibilities as assigned.
  • Must work effectively in a team environment, but also be able to carry out tasks independently while working alongside industry experts

  • VTAM and TCPIP, OSA and Virtual Interfaces, HiperSockets and VSWITCH
  • System operator experience
  • zOS experience with JES2 and JES3
  • zVM system experience
  • Linux on z System
  • zCX (z / OS Container Extensions) Linux on z / OS
  • Experience providing z / VM hosting support for z / OS and z / VSE Guest systems.
  • zVSE Mainframe systems software programming experience and knowledge
  • DS8000 Disk Subsystem, FlashCopy
  • RACF Security
  • Experience using z / OSMF and Workflows.
