Optimum Technologies (OpTech) seeks an Electrical Design and Integration Engineer for its payload team in Sterling, VA. The ideal candidate can communicate effectively across the team, from systems engineers to embedded software teams, with the ability to delve deeply into complex integration issues across various spacecraft buses. A passion for exploring new environments and technologies is essential. This is not a position that will pigeonhole you into a single technology or effort, but will instead expose you to all areas of satellite payload design and testing.
Essential Functions :
- Collaborate with the technical team members, spacecraft teams, and customers to streamline integration and implementation of cutting-edge electro-optical sensor technologies.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure successful product design, product integration, testing, and delivery.
- Provide technical direction and support to suppliers.
- Ensure compliance with OpTech’s quality and security standards, as well as those of customer programs.
- Identify opportunities for digital transformation (DT) and facilitate knowledge
- Assist in creating and documenting test plans, procedures, and test cases based on system requirements and design specifications.
- Support the integration of hardware, software, and firmware components to ensure system functionality and interoperability.
- Participate in executing test procedures, collecting data, and verifying that system components meet performance and design requirements.
- Assist in identifying, isolating, and resolving technical issues during the integration and testing phases.
- Collect and analyze test data to validate system performance, report findings, and provide feedback for system improvements.
- Contribute to the preparation of detailed test reports, including observations, test configurations, and results.
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including system engineers, design engineers, and project management, to align testing objectives with program goals.
- Stay engaged in continuous technical learning and training to improve knowledge of integration and testing processes, tools, and methodologies.
Basic Qualifications :
Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 5-10 years of related experience.Familiarity with EO / IR Sensors and general avionics.Knowledge of EO systems, including optical design, analysis, and tolerancing, error budgets, opto-mech, and focal plane technologies.Strong Systems Engineering development and integration skills.Familiarity with engineering oversight of supplier(s).Exceptional interpersonal communication and presentation skillsAbility to work independently with minimal guidance.Self-motivated and meticulous with work.Preferred Qualifications :
BS / MS in Optical Engineering or Physics preferred.Experience with free space alignment tools : autocollimators, theodolites, laser setups, and optical alignment techniques.Laboratory, field, or flight test experience with Electro Optical, Infrared and / or Laser Systems.Familiar with EW / CM, Radar, CNI, or Fusion Systems.Previous experience with Military or Government Programs.Experience taking radiometric measurements using spectroradiometers, cameras, and detectors.Proficiency with data analysis tools such as MATLAB or PythonMust have the ability to receive a U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance.
