School Social Worker

Essential Functions

• Assessment and Diagnosis : Conduct assessments, testing, and diagnostic examinations of students to identify learning or social interaction issues and recommend corrective measures to enhance learning.
• Casework Services : Provide casework services to students and parents to promote understanding and participation in addressing social issues that affect the educational experience.
• Behavior Management Plans : Assist students and staff in implementing behavior management plans tailored to individual needs.
• Coordination with Agencies : Collaborate with outside agencies, organizations, and institutions as needed to support student needs.
• Collaboration with Staff : Work with administrators and teaching staff to assess individual student abilities and familiarize them with available social work services.
• Dropout Prevention : Contribute to the school district's dropout prevention initiatives.
• Counseling Resource : Serve as a resource for students and parents, providing counseling that promotes personal growth, self-understanding, and behavioral management while acting as a liaison between home and school.
• Professional Development : Stay updated on current developments in education by attending seminars, workshops, or researching while maintaining professional relationships.
• Record-Keeping : Organize and maintain accurate records of student information for prospective colleges and employers in compliance with district procedures.
• Parental Involvement : Encourage parental involvement in their children's education and ensure effective communication between home and school.
• Teacher Support : Assist in orienting new teachers and provide in-service training on guidance practices.
• Resource Management : Select and requisition appropriate instructional materials and maintain inventory records.
• Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Principal.

Qualifications Profile
