Under the supervision of the Security Captain or Staff Sergeant, the Security Sergeant provides first line supervision to the assigned security workforce at the job site. Ensures security services are delivered in compliance with the contract's scope of work, company policies, post orders, and all applicable laws, regulations, and operational procedures. Performs administrative duties such as incident reports, assisting with personnel evaluations and recommending discipline and commendations.
The Security Sergeant is a working supervisor who is one of the primary security officers on duty but also directs or oversees through his/her subordinates all responses to emergency and non-emergency situations occurring at the job site. Duties may differ depending on job site, business necessities, and client requirements.
Required qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, 2 years of prior experience in military, law enforcement, corrections, or private security, a valid driver's license, a State Unarmed Security Officer License, a Transportation Worker's Identification Card (TWIC), the ability to lead with professionalism, respect and integrity at all times, the ability to teach and train others, excellent verbal and written communications skills, strong decision making and incident/event management skills, strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office, and the ability to successfully complete a criminal background investigation, drug screen, and a post-offer physical/fitness for duty evaluation.
Desired qualifications include previous supervisory experience, knowledge of security services and developing Security Post Orders in the private sector, knowledge and ability to develop and maintain a Security Officer Training Program, and advanced skills utilizing common office related computer programs plus ability to learn proprietary programs unique to client (CCTS).
Essential functions include complying with all DUS and client policies, procedures, and work rules, coordinating security operations at the job site under the direction of the Security Captain, ensuring all required paperwork is completed by the end of the shift and turned into the Captain, applying knowledge of the techniques and practices involved in the physical protection of property, facilities, documents, and material in order to protect against trespassers, sabotage, vandalism, theft, fire, accident, etc., writing operational and administrative reports and providing a detailed and accurate accounting orally or in writing of all aspects of an incident or event, ensuring that all assigned equipment, vehicles, uniforms, and gear are properly worn and maintained, scheduling personnel and coordinating staffing adjustments to meet immediate and projected manpower requirements in accordance with DUS policies and procedures, supervising on the job training of assigned personnel, maintaining established standards of officer performance by personal example, evaluating and providing feedback to officers regarding their reports, daily duties and procedures in order to achieve optimum overall performance, assisting with emergency response activities as requested by client and/or management, maintaining composure and control in stressful situations and/or emergency situations, promoting a respectful and professional workplace environment free of harassment, favoritism, and inappropriate behavior, ensuring company and site-specific safety programs are followed by all security staff, being available to provide back up support for personnel on duty as needed, safely operating a motor vehicle in a variety of settings and varying weather conditions, being willing to respond to urgent matters on weekends and evenings, and understanding the administrative duties and responsibilities of the Security Captain.

Working environment: The employee will be required to work in an office setting as well as confined workspaces such as a security guard post, security gate, or patrol vehicles. The majority of work is performed in an industrial setting with a variety of people in differing functions, personalities and abilities.
Physical demands: The employee's work requires routine walking, standing, sitting, bending, and carrying/lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds. Candidate will be required to successfully complete a post-offer pre-hire physical and fitness for duty evaluation.
