Direct Reports : 2 front-line fundraisers + 1 indirect report

Assignment Type : Full time, exempt

Compensation : $151,700 to $171,700

About the position :

The Senior Director will lead and grow our Northeast major gifts team, build a robust $2M+ portfolio of leadership gifts donors and prospective donors, and drive forward an ambitious regional growth strategy as we seek to double revenue and reach 100M people over the next 5 years. This role is ideal for a dynamic development professional who has experience closing multiyear 6 and 7-figure gifts from individual donors, is a strong people leader of frontline fundraisers, and has a proven track record of translating campaign strategy and goals into measurable results.

Key Outcomes :

In the first 90 days, the Northeast Regional Director will :

Learn and live the Americares values. Complete all required new hire onboarding trainings. Demonstrate understanding of Americares programs, impact metrics, and strategic priorities. Begin donor outreach with top prospects and loyal supporters while refining the pipeline and creating tailored cultivation plans. Demonstrate full proficiency in CRM usage for tracking donor activity, forecasting revenue, and reporting progress. Audit fundraising performance through a review of Northeast portfolios, donor data, regional giving trends. Begin identification of top prospects, lapsed donors, and regional philanthropic influencers. Lead strategy with direct reports, clarify roles, and establish a collaborative, high-performance culture

In the first 6 months, the Northeast Regional Director will :

Implement a regional fundraising plan with clear revenue targets, segmentation, and donor strategy for the Northeast major gifts team, which collectively raises between $5M-$6M. Demonstrate fluency in the Americares growth campaign strategy and actively support Individual Philanthropy Officers in developing tailored prospect strategies and compelling campaign-related asks. Establish their own strong relationships with 20-30 key donors and prospects through in-person meetings, events, and personalized outreach. Begin to develop multi-year donor plans for key campaign prospects. Secure multiple major gifts ($25-$100K+) and renewed key funders from previous years. Engage regional board members and Leadership Council members in fundraising efforts, including introductions and stewardship. Foster a collaborative and resilient team culture while navigating change management related to donor strategy execution and CRM-based moves management, ensuring staff feel supported, aligned, and empowered throughout the evolution. In the first year, the Northeast Regional Director will :

Achieve or exceed annual revenue targets for both your own portfolio and the Northeast region. Close multiple six-figure gifts and actively manage a portfolio of 75+ major donors and prospects with tailored cultivation and stewardship plans. Build a pipeline of campaign prospects in your portfolio for future multi-year six-figure and seven-figure commitments. Lead and coach the team to strengthen the Northeast Leadership Council strategy by identifying growth opportunities that guide midlevel donors along a path to increased investment and leadership. Contribute to national development strategy by sharing regional insights and best practices across the development department, including identifying long-term opportunities for growth, such as new markets, partnerships, or planned giving prospects. Have full ownership and responsibility for driving the strategy for two signature northeast fundraising initiatives (e.g. Airlift Benefit, Americares Free Clinic naming campaign, etc.). Maintain a high-performing team culture while supporting change management as we launch into a growth campaign.

Develop and execute a comprehensive Northeast regional strategy focused on growing both revenue and strengthening Americares major gifts pipeline.

Cultivate and manage a portfolio of major donors and prospects in the northeast. Move relationships to the next level through personalized outreach, event engagement, and impact-driven storytelling.

Secure significant gifts ($25K$1M+) and build a robust pipeline of future donors through research, qualification visits, and strategic engagement.

Collaborate cross-functionally across development, executive office, programs, and marketing & communications to ensure alignment and impact of your teams initiatives.

Manage and mentor frontline fundraisers, fostering a high-performance, mission-driven culture.

Represent the Americares regionally, elevating visibility through events, donor meetings, and strategic partnerships.

Degrees and / or experience required for the role :

Demonstrated experience in developing and executing Northeast regional fundraising strategies for both yourself and a team in a global nonprofit and aligning them with national and organizational strategic goals.

Progressive experience with people management of people managers and development officer level staff

Demonstrated experience leading fundraising strategies and / or securing major gifts in a global nonprofit organization.

These competencies are required for the role :

Deep understanding of fundraising strategies and the philanthropic landscape in the Northeast (particularly CT and NYC), including regional giving trends, special events, and donor networks. Excellent leadership and mentorship experience; ability to motivate geographically distributed people managers and frontline fundraisers. Demonstrated track record of securing six-figure gifts (i.e. multiple $100K gifts in one fiscal year) and multiyear gifts in the Northeast region and management of a $2M annual portfolio. Demonstrated ability to develop, nurture, and sustain long-term (2+ year) high-net worth donor relationships. Demonstrated ability to convert donors into organizational champions and ambassadors. Demonstrated ability to own multiple mid-sized projects simultaneously and organize your team to achieve or exceed timely and accurate results. Excellent communication skills across diverse audiences and channels, with a demonstrated focus on clarity, authenticity, and attention to detail. Exceptional writing skills. Ability to navigate complex donor and internal dynamics with empathy and diplomacy.

US work authorization and 30% travel across the Northeast Region, including NYC and Stamford CT, is required for this role.

Candidates must be currently living in and will continue to live in one of the following states / territories : CT, NY, NJ, PA

These competencies would be great to have, but are not required :

Fluency in languages that are spoken in at least one of our core locations (India, Philippines, Tanzania, El Salvador, Puerto Rico, Colombia, etc.), in addition to English.

Demonstrated experience converting major donors into planned giving donors.
