Position Summary

Safety Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring workplace safety by developing policies, conducting training, and overseeing compliance with safety regulations.

Position Details

Tours and inspects smaller, less-complex job sites to ensure compliance with company, state and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) andCal-OSHA rules and regulations.

Reports concerns to safety management.Ensures health and safety standards are met by coordinating, promoting and conducting various programs and activities related to the safety management system.

Documents safety inspections, citing dangerous areas / procedures and recommending corrective procedures. Provides recommendations for correcting non-compliance issues.

Participate in off-hour or weekend high-risk activities as needed (e.g., crane operations).

Work weekends and nights as assigned by the Safety Management Team.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities.

Lead New Hire Safety Orientation

Conduct live training for Competent Persons (Confined Space, Fall Protection, Excavation, Trenching, etc.

Ability to demonstrate working knowledge of OSHA / Cal-OSHA standards regarding excavations, confined spaces, fall protection, hazard communication, rigging operations, and the ability to conduct awareness level training for each discipline

Work is performed mainly in field settings. Considerable indoor / outdoor work in hot, cold or rainy weather conditions is required to inspect various construction / commercial sites and facilities. Hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate tools, instruments, and equipment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; sit; walk; talk or hear; use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms. In addition, the employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Must be able to carry / lift up to 50 pounds at times.

Ensures cited issues are corrected within designated timeframe.

Maintains all site required documentation related to safety issues, including accident reports, inspection reports and training logs.

Reviews daily job hazard logs and takes action as required.

Provides emergency response to employees as needed.Documents information for the investigation of accidents and injuries.

Serves as mentor to less-experienced Safety employees.

Assists with development of training materials and coordinates and facilitates employee training as necessary.

Solid working knowledge of health and safety management systems; OSHA CFR 1926 standards or the state construction safety regulations

Solid verbal and written communication skills

Solid problem-solving skills

Solid customer-service and organizational skills

Solid computer skills-experience with Microsoft Office suite and ability to access OSHA information via the internet

Solid knowledge of safety operating processes and procedures

Exercises independent judgement and makes decisions as needed

Consults with Safety Management Team on decisions that significantly impact the company-

This role does not supervise or direct other workflow of others

May mentor less-experienced safety roles

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Safety, Health or Environmental Applied Sciences or related discipline preferred

Certifications in CPR and First Aid preferred

OSHA 30hr

OSHA 510, CHST or STSC or ASP certifications preferred

Pay : Final pay is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. For (Colorado / New York City / California / Washington / Maryland) this ranges from $70,000.00-85,000.00 plus annual incentive, benefits, and retirement program as outlined above.

Contingent Employment : All employment offers are contingent upon successful drug tests, background checks, and professional reference checks. Roles that include driving as an essential job duty will be required to have a successful Motor Vehicle Record check (MVR). We are not able to offer sponsorship of employment at this time.
