Summary
The Facilities Technician is a vital member of the Facilities Team, supporting the care, functionality, and readiness of all ministry spaces. Working collaboratively with Facilities staff, this role is responsible for performing a wide range of semi-skilled repairs and preventative maintenance tasks. A core emphasis of this position is possessing a general knowledge of building systems and demonstrating a willingness to learn, adapt, and grow across multiple trades involved in facilities and building management. The Facilities Technician contributes to the team spirit of the staff, volunteers and visitors through fellowship, encouragement, cooperation, prayer, and other appropriate ways as he or she serves our Lord Jesus Christ.
Responsibilities
Maintain and operate commercial-grade equipment such as vacuums, floor scrubbers, carpet cleaners / extractors, and powered lift equipment (scissor lifts and man lifts)Perform routine maintenance and care of church-owned vehiclesDemonstrate safe, semi-skilled use of hand tools, power tools, ladders, and related equipmentConduct minor preventive maintenance on electrical systems, including wall switches and receptacles; install light fixtures; and replace lamps and ballasts throughout the facilityPerform semi-skilled plumbing repairs, including the repair and replacement of sinks, faucets, urinals, toilets, flush valves, shut-off valves, and associated supply and waste pipingCarry out year-round groundskeeping duties, including emptying exterior trash receptacles, maintaining areas not serviced by landscape contractors, retention pond upkeep, snow and ice removal, and keeping storm drains clear of debrisAssist with the setup and breakdown of rooms and equipment for church services, events, and special activitiesBuild intentional, positive relationships with Facilities team members, Northshore leadership, other staff, and attendees to ensure smooth transitions of ministry spaces and foster a cooperative, service-oriented environmentContribute creatively and thoughtfully to staff meetings and planning discussionsQualifications
Born Again Christian walking faithfully with God, has a personal testimony, and lives a consecrated life devoted to Jesus Christ as Lord and SaviorRegularly Attends a Christian ChurchPrevious janitorial or maintenance experience preferredSkills & Abilities
